Warner Bros has announced Mortal Kombat XL, a complete edition of last year’s hit fighter heading to PS4 and Xbox One on March 4. Set to be released both physically and digitally, Mortal Kombat XL contains the original game plus every piece of DLC released so far, including additional characters Predator, Jason Voorhees, Tremor, Tanya and Goro, plus the Samurai, Brazil, Kold War and Kold War Scorpion Skin Packs. It also packs in the content from the soon-to-be-released Kombat Pack 2, including the Xenomorph from Alien, Texas Chainsaw Massacre’s Leatherface, Triborg, and Bo’Rai Cho, along with a brand new ‘Apocalypse Skin Pack’....

After a lot of rumor and online chatter, EA has officially revealed Need for Speed Hot Pursuit Remastered. To be clear, this is a remaster of the 2010 release by Criterion, not a remake of the 1998 title of the same name. It comes as the first release since Burnout developer Criterion took over the series again, earlier this year. The reveal trailer is a weird one, showing very little footage on a 10 year old game....

Square Enix has announced a PC version of Neo: The World Ends With You with a summer 2021 release date on Epic Games Store. Fairy Tail is the lastest highly-anticipated video game anime adaptation, joining other upcoming titles including Dragon Ball Z Kakarot and One Piece Pirate Warriors 4. There’s a new trailer for Harry Potter prequel ‘Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them’, once again choosing wisely to not show any beasts, but instead focus on star Eddie Redmayne and his suitcase. The film also stars Colin Farrell, Ron Perlman, Dan Fogler, Katherine Waterston, Alison Sudol, Ezra Miller, Samantha Morton, Gemma Chan, and Jon Voight. Events in the film take place 70 years prior to Harry Potter enrolling at Hogwarts....

The new Silent Hill movie will not be bringing back its original screenwriter, Roger Avary, it has been confirmed. Last week, Christophe Gans, the director of the Silent Hill movie from 2006, confirmed that he is creating a new Silent Hill film with Victor Hadida, the executive producer of the Resident Evil movies. On Twitter, Silent Hill screenwriter Roger Avary confirmed to fans that he wouldn’t be working on the new movie....

Confirming yesterday’s reports, Warner Bros Interactive has now formally announced that a Harry Potter AR game is in development from mobile developers Niantic Labs and also revealed a few more details about the upcoming title. The announcement on the Pottermore website promises Harry Potter: Wizards Unite ‘encourages you to step outside with your phone, explore your local surroundings and take part in a series of adventures, such as searching for magical creatures and bumping into iconic wizarding world characters along the way....

Hello Games’ co-founder Sean Murray has warned that No Man’s Sky is “a weird game”, “might not be for everyone” and that it may not be the game people “imagined” it to be from the original trailers. In an update posted yesterday, Murray attempted to explain what the space exploration game actually is, and discuss his vision to have players “wander around an alien planet, and to feel you had discovered it”....

It’s fitting, I think, that I first read about Pattern Recognition in the book review column of Edge Magazine. 20 odd years later, in my memory at least, the book and the magazine as it was in that part of the early 2000s cannot fully be separated.
