The team has taken swift action and has provided an update about the future of its games and its small studio. Recently, Depression Quest developer Zoe Quinn wrote a lengthy message in which they accused Night in the Woods developer Alec Holowka of sexual abuse. In their post, Quinn described a situation in which Holowka stranded them in Winnipeg after they flew there to meet him....

No Man’s Sky has gone gold, Hello Games has confirmed. That means there shouldn’t be any more delays for the highly-anticipated space game, which is due to land in the UK on August 10. “It’s happened,” tweeted Hello Games founder Sean Murray. “No Man’s Sky just went gold. I’m so incredibly proud of this tiny team. 4 years of emotions.” The game had previously been due to arrive last month, but was delayed to polish up some “key moments”....

The game’s dismal reception and lower than expected sales forecast coming into play, the company will have to endure an expected shortfall of cash in January 2019. The video game industry is now a few years into the 9th console generation. The PlayStation 5 made its debut toward the end of 2020, and Sony’s console is slowly becoming easier to find in the wild. The early access version of Minecraft Earth launched in the United Kingdom on November 5 on Android and iOS, joining eight other countries. The developers also promise that more countries will be added “in the coming weeks.” Additionally, a demo will be playable in Microsoft stores throughout the US and Canada, as well as those in London, England and Sydney, Australia. Early access began in October of this year. Now, the UK joins the list with Canada, South Korea, Mexico, Philippines, Sweden, Australia, New Zealand, and Iceland....

Mortal Kombat 11 is bringing back Kitana as a playable character, developer NetherRealm has confirmed in a TV spot for the upcoming bone-breaking fighting game sequel. Kitana originally debuted back in Mortal Kombat II, and rebelled against Shao Kahn’s rule after finding out she wasn’t his biological daughter. Unfortunately, she was killed in battle and was brought back to life as an evil revenant, where she joins Liu Kang as the ruler of the Netherrealm....

EA has released a new trailer for its upcoming racer Need for Speed Payback, and it’s definitely channeling the spirit of Fast and the Furious. Welcome to Fortune Valley takes players on a tour through the Vegas-like city , where the stakes are always high, and so are the differential settings on some of the cars, judging by the bouncing antics occurring. Throttle it. Need for Speed Payback will have the largest open world in the series to date, and the trailer shows off the range of driving activities available....

Developers have accused NetherRealm Studios of having toxic work conditions. Hundred-hour workweeks for the production of the recently released Mortal Kombat 11 and for previous releases in the popular series were common, according to multiple sources. Following the allegations, the studio affirms that it is investigating the issues. In the weeks leading to the release of the game, reports of low pay surfaced alongside the extreme overtime that was required from workers in order to meet their imposed deadlines....
