Microsoft has said it will be watching Activision Blizzard’s leadership during its acquisition approval process to ensure the embattled Call of Duty publisher has the “right people” at the top to facilitate positive cultural change. Activision Blizzard has, of course, been the focus of months of disturbing allegations surrounding its workplace culture following the launch of a State of California lawsuit calling the company a “breeding ground for harassment and discrimination against women” - made all the more unsettling after a damning Wall Street Journal report claimed Activision Blizzard CEO Bobby Kotick had been aware of the allegations of sexual misconduct and mistreatment of female employees across many parts of the company “for years”....

Warner Bros. has released a short new trailer for Middle-earth: Shadow of War which introduces players to the Terror tribe, a particularly unkempt, violent and not at all friendly faction of Orcs whose speciality is spreading… terror throughout Mordor. In Shadow of War, Orcs are now affiliated with certain tribes, whose traits can in turn extend their influence depending on the favour received from the tribe Overlords, who rule fortresses throughout the game’s open world....

MineCon 2015 has been presented with the Guinness World Records title for the largest convention for a single video-game. Lydia Winters, brand director at Mojang, received the Guinness World Records title and accepted the official certificate at the opening ceremony. Stephen Daultrey, editor of Guinness World Records Gamer’s Edition, said: “For a multi-genre games convention to attract 10,000 fans is a big enough feat in itself. But for a convention dedicated to a single video-game to get that number is nothing short of astonishing....

Capcom has dated the upcoming Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak expansion for a release on June 30. The news came during the company’s previously-promised Monster Hunter Digital Event broadcast earlier today. Today Capcom released two new trailers unveiling more gameplay of the “massive” Monster Hunter Rise expansion Sunbreak. The first trailer focuses on showcasing the gameplay of one of the new monsters included in the expansion, the fanged beast Garangolm. The second showcases a new area named The Citadel. At long last, Mortal Kombat 11 finally revealed Spawn in full this past weekend at Final Kombat in Chicago, Illinois. While fans were unfortunately not on hand to see the trailer in person due to coronavirus fears, the exciting Spawn gameplay trailer was thankfully still broadcast out on Twitch and YouTube and was clearly a big hit with the community. Today, Nacon have announced that they are opening up a brand new studio for the purpose of Italian game development. The new project will be known as Nacon Studio Milan and will include RaceWard Studio, which specializes in racing games, and other teams, as it seeks to diversify its offering. Alongside the expertise that RaceWard brings in terms of racing games, Nacon Studio Milan will also focus on developing action/adventure games by another team....

Naughty Dog director Neil Druckmann entertained the possibility of new Uncharted games, in the most recent episode of Retro Replay (via Push Square). Retro Replay is a comedy gaming and talk show hosted by voice actors Nolan North and Troy Baker. They’ve played Blood and Truth, Goldeneye 007, the Uncharted games, Wolfenstein, and The Last of Us, to name but a few of their escapades. The two also invite guests onto their playthroughs on occasion, and their most recent episode of The Last of Us featured actress Ashley Johnson and creative director Neil Druckmann....

However, you might not know what the organization “Safe Schools for Alex” is. I know I didn’t before writing this. This non-profit was created by Max Schachter to honor his late son, Alex, who was one of the 17 victims in the Parkland, Florida shooting. The program helps schools in creating safe atmospheres for students....

A new report reveals that the newly announced BioShock game has been in development for several years. 2K confirmed the development of a new BioShock game today, but said that it would be in development at Cloud Chamber “for the next several years.” An article by Jason Schreier at Kotaku confirms that the next BioShock game hasn’t just started development, as 2K’s announcement suggested. Schreier says that the game has been in development since 2015 when 2K got Certain Affinity, a developer which has helped out on Halo and Call of Duty games, to develop it....

A lot of the latest promotions for the upcoming Final Fantasy 7 Remake have focused on showing off the game’s primary characters. Cloud Strife, for instance, just received a full trailer tailor-made to give old and new followers of the game more insight on his character. This time around, the spotlight has shifted over to Aerith Gainsborough, a fan-favorite character who probably earned the love by being the most badass flower shop owner ever....

Sony has reportedly filed a new trademark for its Knack series. The trademark was filed in Japan on the 17th of March, with the filing made public today (nice spot, Gematsu). The filing itself doesn’t give much away - in fact it is literally just the word Knack - but it has started speculation that Sony may be gearing up to release a third installment to its platformer series. However, please do not get your hopes up too far....

Today is November 7, so BioWare is celebrating the traditional “N7 Day” with a brand new tease of the upcoming Mass Effect Day. This time around, we get to see what appears to be the construction site of a mysterious “Vacuum-dock Relay.” It looks absolutely massive, especially if the ships on the left with the cross-shaped structures are Arks, as the shape would suggest. This might also create a link to Mass Effect: Andromeda, which has been rumored....

Blizzard confirmed last week that Overwatch would see the return of the Halloween event, and it seems that the leaks are now in full motion. Three more skins have appeared on Reddit (thanks PfeiferWolf), courtesy of adverts on Facebook, and there are some frighteningly good makeovers for Mei, Symmetra and Zenyetta. These follow on from Blizzard revealing Reaper taking on the guise of Dracula, and McCree flaunting his Van Helsing-inspired look....
