A new Lord of the Rings game will be published by Private Division in collaboration with Weta Workshop. Details on the game itself are unknown, though it will be set in the Middle-earth universe of J.R.R. Tolkien’s novels. Private Division is part of Take-Two Interactive and has previously published the likes of Kerbal Space Program, Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey, and Obsidian’s The Outer Worlds. It’s also set to publish new games from Ori and the Blind Forest’s Moon Studios, OlliOlli creators Roll7, and Armello developer League of Geeks....

A brand new Sonic The Hedgehog game is coming in 2017, SEGA has reportedly confirmed. As reported by ]Gematsu, the new game was announced by Sonic Team boss Takashi Iizuka during a 25th anniversary event in Tokyo, Japan, with further details expected to be revealed at next month’s anniversary party in San Diego. SEGA has previously told fans to expect “the exclusive first look at the future of Sonic” during next month’s event, although some had been expecting the new game to release later this year, rather than 2017....

A new mod for Tomb Raider Anniversary adds a variety of assets from Angel of Darkness to its successor. The mod in question comes from Raq on Nexxus Mods. Raq has made it so a multitude of items in Anniversary now get an Angel of Darkness makeover. This includes everything from characters to weapons. With this mod in play, you can replace the athletic Lara Croft with Margot Carvier, Angel of Darkness’ demure academic from the Louvre’s Department of Medieval and Renaissance Studies....

Behaviour Interactive’s gruesome asymmetrical multiplayer game Dead by Daylight is getting an update soon. If you’ve not played Dead by Daylight, a group of survivors have to escape from a killer by opening gates on a level and avoid being strung up on meat hooks by the killer who also can’t be killed. It’s similar to their new game Deathgarden which is currently in development (see preview). Behaviour sent over a new teaser trailer for an update which is scheduled to live next month on the PC....

Hack-n-slash brawler Nioh has shipped three million units since its release in 2017. Developer Team Ninja announced the news on the game’s official Twitter account and thanked fans for enjoying the title. It even took time to promote Nioh 2, the upcoming sequel that’s set for release in early March. “Nioh, which recently celebrated its third anniversary, surpassed three million in worldwide shipments,” reads the Tweet. “Thank you very much to everyone who enjoyed the game....

Today NIS America announced that it will host a reveal showcase next week. The showcase will be hosted on September 7 at 8:00 am PDT, 11:00 am EDT, 4:00 pm BST, or 5:00 pm CEST depending on where you live. The original Halo music composers are suing Microsoft over unpaid royalties, Eurogamer can reveal. Marty O’Donnell and Mike Salvatori, who created the iconic Halo music used in the Bungie-developed Halo games and more Halo products, claim Microsoft still owes them money relating to royalties dating back 20 years. Lawyers representing the pair filed the lawsuit to a Washington state court in June 2020, and it has rumbled on ever since, with depositions and discovery undertaken....
